Disease conditions producing symptoms of colic occur in all sections of the intestinal tract and consist of impactions, torsions, herniations and foreign bodies. A dose of 2 g. xylose/Kg. body-weight is required to produce a maximum plasma xylose level of 30 mg./100ml. after two hours.
