High-titered agglutinating antisera and fluorescent-antibody conjugates were obtained in both groups of animals. Maximum titers were obtained in horses 14 to 21 days after the start of vaccination and in burros 21 to 28 days after the start of vaccination. The use of Woodhour's adjuvants or booster inoculations did not result in increased titers.

Adeyefa CA, Durojaiye OA.Serum samples obtained from 107 Polo horses showing clinical signs of viral respiratory disease were tested for precipitating antibodies to adenovirus by agar gel precipitation test and counter-immunoelectrophoresis method. The results obtained demonstrate serological evidence of adenovirus infection in Polo horses in Nigeria. The counter-immunoelectrophoresis method was observed to be about 3 times more sensitive than the agar gel precipitation test with 19.3 vs 64.5%. It could thus be used to screen a large number of serum samples within a short period.

The results from horse at rest show that there is a close relationship between rate of lung volume change (flow rate) and the associated impedance changes during both inspiration and expiration. Impedance changes during exercise were related to inspiration and expiration by observation of associated respiratory sounds. Artefacts related to technical difficulties are also indicated.
