Although the exact etiology of many of these disease processes is unknown, careful observation with properly timed medical and/or surgical intervention could reduce the losses associated with the peripartum period.

Although many causes of failure to conceive or to carry to term may be easy to diagnose and treat effectively, others may be difficult.
