Impact of mixed strongyle infections in foals after one month on pasture. Twelve Standardbred foals (age 3-6 months), with little previous exposure to parasites, were allocated to 2 groups and put onto pasture with low (Group L) or high (Group H) levels of larval contamination of large strongyles and cyathostomes. Adrenal insufficiency in a neonatal foal. A 3-day-old female Pinto was admitted with profuse watery diarrhea and severe hypovolemic shock. Long term exposure to T-2 Fusarium mycotoxin fails to alter luteal function, follicular activity and embryo recovery in mares. The effect of long term administration of T-2 toxin was studied in 6 Trotter mares during the summer and early autumn. After one complete oestrous cycle (Cycle 1) each mare was given 7 mg purified T-2 toxin per os daily (1 mg/ml in ethyl alcohol) beginning on Day 10 after ovulation in Cycle 2. Follicular fluid is not a compulsory carrier of the oocyte at ovulation in the mare. The aim of this study was to test the possibility that ovulation can occur from a preovulatory follicle emptied of its follicular fluid. Arthroscopic removal of palmar/plantar osteochondral fragments (POF) in the metacarpo- and metatarso-phalangeal joints of standardbred trotters–outcome and possible genetic background to POF. A clinical material of 133 Standardbred horses with palmar/plantar osteochondral fragments (POF) in the metacarpo- and metatarsophalangeal joints were studied.
