Virus-like particles in an equine sarcoid cell line. On electron microscopic examination of a cell line derived from an equine sarcoid, intracytoplasmic oncornavirus-like particles were seen. Cells treated with idoxuridine-dimethyl sulfoxide (idu-dmso) had a two- to four-fold increase in the number of particles as compared with nontreated cells or cells treated with dmso alone.
