Isolation of Campylobacter fetus subspecies fetus from an abdominal abscess in an adult mare. A 12-year-old Warmblood mare was referred for evaluation of behavioral changes not explained by general physical examination or lameness evaluation. Valvular endocarditis in the horse: 20 cases (1993-2020). Medical records of 20 horses with a confirmed diagnosis of valvular endocarditis at the Ontario Veterinary College between January 1, 1993 and February 3, 2020 were reviewed. A new strain of Taylorella asinigenitalis shows differing pathogenicity in mares and Jenny donkeys. Systemic Toxoplasmosis in a Horse. An adult American Quarter Horse gelding with a history of weight loss presented with an acute onset of colic, fever, soft faeces and elevated liver enzymes. At necropsy, there were gastric mucosal masses and evidence of caecal necrosis. Histologically, the masses were lymph nodes with granulomatous inflammation and areas of liquefactive necrosis. Primary sinonasal malignant melanoma with systemic metastasis in a non-gray horse. A 27-y-old Anglo-Arabian gelding with bay coat color was presented with a swelling of the left maxillary region. Fenestration on the left maxilla revealed that the left maxillary sinus was filled with black-red tissue. A portion of the tissue was excised and diagnosed histologically as malignant melanoma. A Rare Case of Vascular Proliferation in the Mandible of a Juvenile Horse. A fast growing, circumscribed, unilateral swelling of the right mandible of a juvenile horse was observed.
