Acetylsalicylic Acid - Feed Ingredient
Acetylsalicylic acid, commonly known as aspirin, is a pharmacological compound that belongs to the class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is widely used for its analgesic (pain-relieving), antipyretic (fever-reducing), and anti-inflammatory properties. Acetylsalicylic acid is derived from salicylic acid, a natural compound found in various plants, such as white willow bark extract.
Acetylsalicylic acid acts by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are signaling molecules involved in pain, inflammation, and fever. By blocking the activity of certain enzymes called cyclooxygenases (COX-1 and COX-2), acetylsalicylic acid reduces the production of prostaglandins, thereby alleviating pain and reducing inflammation.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Acetylsalicylic Acid as an ingredient.
