Apple Sauce - Feed Ingredient

Apple Sauce is a pureed product made from cooked apples, often with added water and sometimes sweeteners or preservatives. In equine feed and supplement formulations, unsweetened apple sauce is occasionally used as a palatability enhancer or carrier, particularly in oral pastes, medications, or homemade feed mixtures.

Its primary role is functional—improving flavor, texture, and ease of administration—rather than nutritional. Apple sauce provides small amounts of natural sugars, fiber (particularly pectin), and moisture but is not a significant source of essential nutrients in equine diets.
