Apricots - Feed Ingredient

Apricots are the fruit of Prunus armeniaca, a species of tree in the Rosaceae family. The fruit is rich in natural sugars, fiber, beta-carotene (a precursor of vitamin A), and various antioxidants including vitamin C and polyphenols.

In equine nutrition, apricots are not a standard feed ingredient but may be used in small amounts in treats or specialty supplements. Dried apricots or apricot powder may serve as flavor enhancers or sources of natural antioxidants and carotenoids.
