Barley Flour - Feed Ingredient
Barley Flour is a finely ground product made from whole barley grains (Hordeum vulgare). It is produced by milling either hulled or pearled barley and retains much of the grain’s endosperm, germ, and bran depending on the degree of refinement. Barley flour is rich in starch and also provides some fiber, and B-vitamins.
In equine nutrition, barley flour is primarily used as a source of digestible energy due to its high starch content. It is more finely ground than rolled or cracked barley, making it easier to incorporate into pelleted feeds or mash formulations. The fine particle size can increase starch digestibility in the small intestine.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Barley Flour as an ingredient.
