Benfotiamine - Feed Ingredient
Benfotiamine is a synthetic derivative of thiamine (vitamin B1) with enhanced bioavailability compared to its water-soluble form. In equine nutrition, it is occasionally included in formulations aimed at supporting nerve function and maintaining cellular metabolic balance.
Benfotiamine is involved in the pentose phosphate pathway, which plays a role in energy production and antioxidant defense. Although research on its use in horses is limited, its inclusion in feed supplements is considered with the intent to address oxidative stress and support overall nerve health.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Benfotiamine as an ingredient.
