Cobalt Amino Acid Chelate - Feed Ingredient

Cobalt Amino Acid Chelate is a trace mineral compound in which cobalt is bound to amino acids through a chelation process. This form is designed to enhance mineral stability and absorption in the digestive tract compared to inorganic cobalt salts. Chelated cobalt is typically used in small quantities in trace mineral premixes for livestock and horses.

In equine nutrition, cobalt is required in minute amounts as it plays a key role in the synthesis of Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) by hindgut microbes. While horses do not require preformed B12 in their diets, they do require adequate cobalt to enable microbial production of this vitamin. Cobalt amino acid chelate provides a bioavailable form of cobalt to support this microbial function.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Cobalt Amino Acid Chelate as an ingredient.
