Corn Germ - Feed Ingredient
Corn germ is the reproductive part of the corn kernel that is separated during the dry or wet milling process. It is a nutrient-dense component of the corn grain, containing significant amounts of oil, protein, and fiber. Corn germ is commonly processed to extract corn oil, but the residual germ meal can also be used as an ingredient in animal feed.
In equine nutrition, corn germ is included in feed formulations as a source of energy and essential fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid (omega-6). It also provides moderate levels of protein and phosphorus. The inclusion of corn germ can enhance the caloric density and palatability of the diet.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Corn Germ as an ingredient.
