Corn Oil - Feed Ingredient

Corn oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the germ of the corn kernel (Zea mays). It is commonly refined to remove impurities, resulting in a light-colored oil with a high content of linoleic acid (omega-6). Corn oil also contains moderate levels of vitamin E (tocopherols), which contributes to its antioxidant properties and oxidative stability.

In equine nutrition, corn oil is frequently used as a dense energy supplement due to its high caloric content—providing approximately 2.25 times more energy per unit than carbohydrates or protein. Corn oil can also improve coat condition and reduce dust in feeds. However, its high omega-6 fatty acid content should be taken into consideration when balancing the diet.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Corn Oil as an ingredient.
