Cottonseed Oil - Feed Ingredient
Cottonseed oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the seeds of cotton plants, primarily Gossypium hirsutum and Gossypium barbadense. It is a byproduct of cotton fiber production and is refined to remove natural toxins, including gossypol, which is harmful in its unrefined form.
In equine feed, refined cottonseed oil may be used as a fat source to increase the energy density of the diet. It contains a mixture of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, primarily linoleic, palmitic, and oleic acids.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Cottonseed Oil as an ingredient.
