Dried Whey Solubles - Feed Ingredient

Dried whey solubles are obtained by removing proteins and other solids from liquid whey—a byproduct of cheese production—and then drying the remaining soluble fraction. This ingredient primarily contains lactose, along with small amounts of minerals, peptides, and water-soluble vitamins.

In equine nutrition, dried whey solubles may be included as a palatable energy source due to their high lactose content. They are more commonly used in feeds for young or weanling animals, as adult horses have a limited ability to digest lactose.
