Ergocalciferol (Vitamin D2) - Feed Ingredient
Ergocalciferol (Vitamin D2) is a fat-soluble vitamin derived from plant and fungal sources that plays a role in regulating calcium and phosphorus metabolism. In equine nutrition, it supports bone development and overall skeletal health by helping maintain proper mineral balance.
After ingestion, ergocalciferol is converted in the liver and kidneys into active vitamin D metabolites. It is generally considered less potent than vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol).
