Gamma-Tocopherol - Feed Ingredient
Gamma-tocopherol is one of the eight naturally occurring forms of vitamin E, a fat-soluble antioxidant. It occurs predominantly in plant oils such as soybean, corn, and sesame oil. While alpha-tocopherol is the most biologically active and commonly supplemented form of vitamin E in equine nutrition, gamma-tocopherol also possesses antioxidant properties and contributes to oxidative balance.
In feed formulations, gamma-tocopherol may be present as a component of mixed tocopherols, often used both for their nutritional value and as natural preservatives to prevent fat oxidation in feeds. It is typically derived from the distillation or extraction of vegetable oils and can be included in natural vitamin E blends.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Gamma-Tocopherol as an ingredient.
