Heat Processed Barley - Feed Ingredient
Barley is a cereal grain valued in equine feeds for its starch content and energy density.
Heat-processed barley refers to barley that has undergone treatments such as roasting, micronizing, or popping. These methods use dry heat to partially gelatinize starch, improving its availability for digestion. Heat-processed barley is more digestible than raw or whole barley and is used to increase the energy content of equine diets. Due to its starch level, it should be managed carefully in horses prone to metabolic issues.
