Omneity® Pellets
All-In-One Vitamin & Mineral Pellet
In equine nutrition, “oil” refers broadly to fats and oils derived from plant or animal sources that are added to feed for their energy-dense properties. Oils are primarily composed of triglycerides—molecules made up of glycerol and three fatty acids. Common plant-derived oils used in horse feeds include soybean oil, canola oil, corn oil, flaxseed oil, and rice bran oil.
These oils are included in equine rations to increase caloric density without adding starch or sugar. They provide about 2.25 times more energy per unit weight than carbohydrates or protein. The specific fatty acid profile of each oil varies, influencing its digestibility, palatability, and the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids it contributes to the diet.
