Orthosilicic Acid - Feed Ingredient
Orthosilicic acid (OSA) is the bioavailable, water-soluble form of silicon. It is the simplest form of soluble silica and is often stabilized with carriers (such as choline) to enhance absorption when used in feed or supplements.
In equine nutrition, orthosilicic acid is included as a source of silicon, a trace element involved in connective tissue integrity and bone development.
Silicon is not classified as an essential nutrient for horses, and most forages naturally contain sufficient levels. However, orthosilicic acid may be used in targeted supplementation, especially in young & growing horses.
