P-Aminobenzoic Acid - Feed Ingredient
P-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA) is an organic compound that is part of the B-complex vitamin family, although it is not classified as a true vitamin for most animals, including horses. It occurs naturally in some foods and is also synthesized by certain gut microbes.
In animal nutrition, PABA is occasionally included in supplements or feed formulations for its role in folate metabolism. In microbial systems, it acts as a precursor in the synthesis of folic acid. However, in horses, whose gut microbiota can produce folate endogenously, PABA is not considered an essential nutrient.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain P-Aminobenzoic Acid as an ingredient.
