Pea Meal - Feed Ingredient
Pea meal is a ground product derived from dried field peas (Pisum sativum), typically after the removal of the outer hull. It is used in animal feeds as a plant-based protein and energy source. Pea meal is rich in starch, digestible fiber, and protein, and contains a relatively balanced amino acid profile, making it suitable for inclusion in equine and livestock diets.
As a legume, peas naturally contain higher lysine levels compared to cereal grains, which can complement the amino acid profile of other feed ingredients. Pea meal also contains a moderate amount of fat and micronutrients, including B vitamins and phosphorus.
