Peanut Hulls - Feed Ingredient
Peanut hulls, also known as peanut shells, are the outer coverings of peanuts (Arachis hypogaea) that are removed during the shelling process. They are an agricultural byproduct generated in large volumes by the peanut processing industry.
In equine feed formulations, peanut hulls may be included as a source of dietary fiber. While low in nutritional value compared to other roughages, they provide bulk and can aid in maintaining gut motility. Peanut hulls are composed primarily of lignocellulosic material, including cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, which contribute to their fibrous nature. They are not a significant source of energy, protein, or vitamins for horses.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Peanut Hulls as an ingredient.
