Puffed Corn - Feed Ingredient

Puffed corn is corn that has been exposed to high heat and pressure, causing the kernels to rapidly expand or “puff.” This process gelatinizes the starch, enhancing its digestibility and making the grain easier for horses to chew and utilize.

In equine feeds, puffed corn is used as an energy-dense ingredient with improved palatability. The puffing process also reduces the density of the grain, which can aid in feed texture and intake.

As with other processed corn products, its high starch content requires careful management in horses prone to metabolic disorders, laminitis, or starch sensitivity.
