Silicon Dioxide - Feed Ingredient

Silicon dioxide (SiO₂), also known as silica, is a naturally occurring mineral compound found in sand, quartz, and various plant materials. In animal feed, it is primarily used as an anti-caking agent to improve the flowability and handling of powdered or pelleted feed ingredients. It may also be present as a naturally occurring component of plant-based feedstuffs.

In equine nutrition, silicon is recognized as an essential trace element involved in connective tissue health, bone formation, and collagen synthesis. However, silicon dioxide itself is considered an inert form and is mainly included in feed formulations for its functional properties rather than as a nutritional source of silicon.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Silicon Dioxide as an ingredient.
