Sodium Ascorbate - Feed Ingredient
Sodium ascorbate is a buffered, mineral salt form of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) combined with sodium. It is more pH-neutral than pure ascorbic acid, making it gentler on the digestive tract.
In equine nutrition, sodium ascorbate is used as a source of vitamin C, which plays roles in collagen synthesis, antioxidant defense, and immune function. While horses can synthesize their own vitamin C, supplementation may be considered in cases of stress, illness, or aging.
