Sodium Borate - Feed Ingredient
Sodium borate, also known as borax or sodium tetraborate, is an inorganic compound composed of sodium, boron, oxygen, and water. It commonly appears as a white, crystalline powder and has various industrial and chemical uses. In feed applications, sodium borate may serve as a source of the trace mineral boron.
In equine nutrition, boron is not considered an essential nutrient; however, it has been studied for its potential influence on bone metabolism, mineral utilization, and enzyme activity. When included in animal feed, sodium borate is typically used at very low levels to supply trace amounts of boron.
