Sorbitol - Feed Ingredient
Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol (polyol) commonly used as a humectant, sweetener, and texturizing agent in food and feed products. It is a naturally occurring compound found in many fruits and can also be commercially produced. In animal nutrition, sorbitol may be used in oral pastes, or pelleted products to improve texture, stability, and palatability.
In equine feed formulations, sorbitol is not a primary nutrient but may be included to support product consistency and moisture retention. It has a mild sweetness while also contributing fewer calories than sucrose, though it is not typically used as a major energy source.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Sorbitol as an ingredient.
