Soybean Residue - Feed Ingredient

Soybean residue, also referred to as soybean pulp or okara, is the fibrous by-product remaining after soybeans have been processed for soymilk, tofu, or other soy protein products. It consists primarily of insoluble fiber, residual protein, fat, and moisture.

In equine nutrition, soybean residue may be used as a secondary ingredient in feed formulations to provide additional fiber and some protein. Its nutritional content can vary depending on processing methods, with protein levels typically lower than those found in soybean meal. It is generally less digestible due to its high fiber content but can contribute to bulk and digestive motility.
