Spelt - Feed Ingredient

Spelt (Triticum spelta) is an ancient grain and a relative of modern wheat. It is used in equine feeds primarily as an energy source due to its starch content.

The grain can be fed whole, rolled, or ground and is sometimes included in pelleted or textured feeds. Compared to common wheat, spelt has a tougher outer hull, which may influence processing and digestibility. However, when properly processed, spelt is generally well-tolerated by horses and contributes to overall energy intake.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Spelt as an ingredient.
