Sunflower Seeds - Feed Ingredient

Sunflower seeds are the edible seeds of the sunflower plant (Helianthus annuus) and are commonly used in animal nutrition as a source of fat and protein. They contain high levels of unsaturated fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid (omega-6). Sunflower seeds may be fed whole, hulled, or as part of processed feed formulations.

In equine nutrition, sunflower seeds are primarily included in diets to provide additional calories and protein. However they are not considered a complete protein source as they are low in lysine.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Sunflower Seeds as an ingredient.
