Diagnosis of pregnancy in mares by an immunological method. THE use of a hæmagglutination inhibition reaction for the diagnosis of pregnancy in women was reported by Wide and Gemzell1 and Wide2. In this reaction human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) inhibited the agglutination of stable HCG-coated blood cells. The same immunological technique was applied for the assay of pregnant mare serum gonadotrophin (PMS) and was used as a pregnancy diagnosis test in mares.
