Seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection in domestic horses in Durango State, Mexico. The seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection in horses in Mexico is unknown. Therefore, antibodies to T. gondii were assessed in 495 horses in Durango State, Mexico, using the modified agglutination test (MAT). Managing obesity in pasture-based horses. Obesity - a common problem in pasture-based horses - warrants intervention because it is associated with an increased risk for development of laminitis. Treating obesity in pasture-based horses is relatively simple and generally involves reducing caloric intake by using grazing muzzles and/or increasing caloric expenditure through exercise. The prevalence of Theileria equi infection as well as the environmental and demographic risk factors for infection was studied in 590 healthy horses from 46 farms in Israel.
