Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C Supplement) - Feed Ingredient

Ascorbic acid, commonly known as vitamin C, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in antioxidant defense, collagen synthesis, and immune function. Unlike humans, horses can produce vitamin C in their liver from glucose, reducing their dependence on dietary sources.

However, in certain situations—such as high stress, illness, aging, or intense exercise—horses may benefit from supplemental ascorbic acid to support immune function and tissue repair. Because ascorbic acid is sensitive to heat, light, and oxidation, stabilized forms, such as L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate, are often used in feed to ensure potency.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C Supplement) as an ingredient.
