Casein - Feed Ingredient

Casein is the primary protein found in milk, accounting for approximately 80% of its total protein content. It is a slow-digesting, high-quality protein composed of several fractions, including α-, β-, and κ-caseins, and is rich in essential amino acids.

In equine nutrition, casein is rarely used in standard feed formulations but may appear in specialized supplements, particularly those designed for young, growing horses or animals recovering from illness. It provides a source of highly digestible protein and supports amino acid intake when included.
