Chia Seed Oil - Feed Ingredient
Chia seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the Salvia hispanica plant, a member of the mint family. The oil is rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid, and also contains smaller amounts of omega-6 fatty acids.
In equine nutrition, chia seed oil is used as a fat supplement to increase dietary energy and improve the fatty acid profile of the diet. It is valued for its high omega-3 content.
