Copper Amino Acid Chelate - Feed Ingredient

Copper amino acid chelate is an organic form of copper in which copper is chemically bound to amino acids to enhance its bioavailability and absorption in the digestive tract. This chelated form of copper is more efficiently utilized by the horse compared to inorganic sources such as copper sulfate or copper oxide, as it is less likely to interact with other minerals and antagonists in the diet.

Copper is an essential trace mineral involved in red blood cell formation, connective tissue development, enzyme function, and pigmentation of hair and skin. It is particularly important for joint and cartilage health, as it plays a role in the formation of collagen and elastin.

Due to its increased bioavailability, copper amino acid chelate is often used in trace mineral supplements and fortified feeds to ensure adequate copper intake.
