Copper Chloride - Feed Ingredient
Copper chloride is an inorganic compound that serves as a supplemental source of copper in equine diets. Copper is an essential trace mineral involved in connective tissue formation, red blood cell production, and enzymatic reactions related to antioxidant defense and energy metabolism. Horses require adequate copper intake for proper bone and joint development, particularly in growing foals.
Copper chloride is less commonly used as a copper source in horse feeds compared to copper sulfate or chelated copper forms, as it has lower bioavailability. However, it may be included in mineral premixes or fortified feeds to help meet dietary copper requirements.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Copper Chloride as an ingredient.
