Creatine Monohydrate - Feed Ingredient
Creatine monohydrate is a synthetic form of creatine, a naturally occurring compound involved in the storage and rapid release of energy in muscle cells. It is composed of creatine bound to a single water molecule, forming a stable, water-soluble powder commonly used in human and animal sports nutrition.
In equine nutrition, creatine monohydrate is used in specialized supplements, primarily for performance horses. It is intended to support short-duration, high-intensity muscular activity by contributing to the phosphocreatine energy system, which helps regenerate adenosine triphosphate (ATP) during rapid muscle contractions. However, unlike in some other species, horses naturally synthesize adequate creatine from dietary amino acids, and their response to oral creatine supplementation appears limited.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Creatine Monohydrate as an ingredient.
