DHEA - Feed Ingredient

DHEA, or dehydroepiandrosterone, is an endogenous steroid hormone precursor produced naturally in the adrenal glands. It serves as a precursor to androgens and estrogens, including testosterone and estradiol.

In animal supplementation, including some equine products, DHEA may be included for its potential hormonal effects.
Because of its hormonal activity, DHEA is subject to regulatory scrutiny and may be banned in competition by equestrian sport organizations. Its use should only be considered under veterinary guidance, with attention to applicable rules and potential physiological effects.

The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain DHEA as an ingredient.
