Dried Bovine Colostrum - Feed Ingredient
Dried bovine colostrum is a powdered form of the first milk secreted by dairy cows after they give birth to their calf. This colostrum is collected within the first 24 hours post-calving, then processed to preserve its bioactive components while extending shelf life. The final product is a concentrated source of immunoglobulins, growth factors, proteins, and other bioactive peptides.
In equine nutrition, dried bovine colostrum is primarily used in specialized supplements aimed at supporting immune function, especially in foals, aged horses, or those under stress. It is not used as a core feed ingredient but rather as a targeted nutritional adjunct. The immunoglobulin content (particularly IgG) is its most valuable attribute, although colostrum also provides lactoferrin, enzymes, and growth factors that may influence gut health and immune response.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Dried Bovine Colostrum as an ingredient.
