Dried Kelp - Feed Ingredient
Dried kelp is a marine-derived feed ingredient made from seaweed that has been harvested, dried, and ground into a meal. It is rich in trace minerals, including iodine, as well as vitamins, antioxidants, and natural polysaccharides that may support overall health.
In equine nutrition, dried kelp is often included in mineral supplements to provide a natural source of iodine, which is essential for proper thyroid function and metabolism. It may also support coat condition, immune function, and digestive health. However, due to its naturally high iodine content, dried kelp should be fed in controlled amounts, as excessive iodine intake can lead to thyroid imbalances.
