Dried Skim Milk - Feed Ingredient
Dried skim milk is a powdered dairy product produced by removing the cream (fat) from whole milk and then evaporating the remaining liquid under controlled heat. The result is a shelf-stable powder that contains primarily casein and whey proteins, lactose, and essential vitamins and minerals, but minimal fat content.
In equine feeds and supplements, dried skim milk may be used as a highly digestible protein source, particularly in milk replacer formulas for orphaned or early-weaned foals. It provides essential amino acids, calcium, and other nutrients important during early growth stages. While not typically included in adult horse diets, it may be present in specialized formulations aimed at young or nutritionally compromised animals.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Dried Skim Milk as an ingredient.
