Emulsifiers - Feed Ingredient
Emulsifiers are functional feed additives used to stabilize mixtures of water and fat by reducing surface tension between immiscible phases. Common emulsifiers include lecithin, mono- and diglycerides, polysorbates, and sorbitan esters.
In equine feed and supplement formulations, emulsifiers are primarily included to improve the consistency and stability of liquid products or to aid in the uniform distribution of fat-soluble ingredients. They may also enhance the absorption of lipophilic nutrients, such as fat-soluble vitamins or fatty acids.
