Extracted Citric Acid Presscake - Feed Ingredient
Extracted citric acid presscake is the fibrous byproduct remaining after the industrial extraction of citric acid through fermentation processes, typically using Aspergillus niger acting on carbohydrate sources such as molasses, corn, or other sugars. Once citric acid is removed from the fermentation broth, the remaining biomass—consisting of fungal residues and undigested substrate—is collected, dried, and processed into presscake.
In animal feed, including feed for horses, extracted citric acid presscake may be used as a low-cost, fibrous ingredient or filler. It may provide modest levels of residual protein and fiber, but it is generally low in energy and has limited nutritional value.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Extracted Citric Acid Presscake as an ingredient.
