Extruded Soybeans - Feed Ingredient
Extruded soybeans are whole soybeans (Glycine max) that have been processed using high-temperature, short-time extrusion. This process involves rapidly heating the soybeans under pressure and forcing them through a die, which ruptures the cell walls, denatures antinutritional factors, and improves the digestibility of the nutrients.
Extruded soybeans are used in equine and livestock feeds as a concentrated source of protein and fat. They contain high levels of essential amino acids, particularly lysine, and provide energy through their oil content. The extrusion process also inactivates trypsin inhibitors and urease, which are naturally occurring compounds in raw soybeans that can impair protein digestion and nutrient absorption.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Extruded Soybeans as an ingredient.
