Fungi Derived Polysaccharides - Feed Ingredient
Fungi-derived polysaccharides are complex carbohydrate molecules extracted from the cell walls or mycelium of various fungi species, such as Ganoderma lucidum (reishi), Lentinula edodes (shiitake), and Cordyceps spp. These polysaccharides primarily include beta-glucans, which are known for their immune-modulating properties.
In equine supplements, fungi-derived polysaccharides are included for their functional effects on immune system support and gut health. Beta-glucans from fungal sources can interact with immune cells in the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT), potentially enhancing the horse’s innate immune responses.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Fungi Derived Polysaccharides as an ingredient.
