Gentiana macrophylla (Gentian Root) - Feed Ingredient
Gentiana macrophylla, commonly referred to as gentian root, is a traditional medicinal herb derived from a perennial plant native to East Asia. The root is harvested, dried, and ground or extracted for use in herbal formulations.
In equine nutrition, gentian root may be included in specialized supplements for its bitter compounds, primarily gentiopicroside and other secoiridoid glycosides. These compounds are traditionally associated with stimulating appetite and supporting digestive processes by promoting saliva and gastric secretion.
