Glucose - Feed Ingredient
Glucose is a simple sugar (monosaccharide) and a primary carbohydrate used by cells as a source of energy. It naturally occurs in many feed ingredients, including grains, fruits, and molasses. In equine nutrition, glucose may be present as a naturally occurring component of carbohydrate-rich feeds or added in purified form to specific products such as oral supplements or electrolyte pastes.
When included in equine supplements, purified glucose serves as a rapidly absorbed energy source. It can be used to support energy needs in performance horses, or to aid in recovery during or after exercise. However, due to its high glycemic index, direct glucose supplementation is typically limited to specific use cases and is not a common ingredient in standard forage or concentrate feeds.
The following equine feeds, supplements and products contain Glucose as an ingredient.
